WHAT SMART TALKS ARE
Short 3-minute videos, which arise from the desire to promote ideas and projects related to the good and constant practice of SUSTAINABILITY and BIODIVERSITY at an individual and / or group-team level in everyday life, in the city, on vacation, traveling, in work-places, in public administrations and in the private sector.
The Smart Talks that best represent and communicate a sustainable and / or biodiverse idea or project will be awarded by a jury of experts on the final day of the GECO fair, January 30, 2021. This global goal will be achieved through a sustainable, biodiverse, individual and collective shift for the present and future of our planet, of our cities, of society, of business and the economy in general. Participation in the initiative is free of charge.
WHAT WE MEAN BY SUSTAINABILITY
It means gaining momentum towards an environmental, economic, social development aimed at satisfying the needs of present generations without compromising the life and the resources’ availability of future generations, complying with and contributing individually and collectively to the achievement of the sustainable objectives of the 2030 agenda in short-medium-long terms.
Sustainability represents a human, social and cultural challenge that involves international and national law, political, economic, energy, technological, architectural, urban planning and agricultural systems, industrial and artisanal production, transport, local, collective, individual lifestyles and critical consumption, to ensure a circular and collaborative economy based on shared fundamentals, enhancement and respect for our resources, our cities, our territories and living environments, our daily life.
WHAT WE MEAN BY BIODIVERSITY
Biodiversity is the expression and protection of the variety of living organisms at all levels, and of the ecological systems of which they are an important part; this includes respecting and enhancing the diversity between animal, vegetal and human species and within those same species, and respecting and enhancing the multiplicity of ecosystems, communities and living organisms present in a particular habitat.
Biodiversity in everyday organizations – school, home, family, church, hospital, company, department, office, professional studio, prison, neighborhood, etc. – is the result of a constant evolutionary process, through which people adapt to the environment by modifying it thanks to an active interaction in presence and at a distance, maintaining their specificity and identity in terms of multidimensionality, multiculturalism, multidisciplinarity.
Each person, with his daily actions or non-actions, is able to guarantee or jeopardize the balance of the habitat, context, environment, city, private, public, professional, personal organization in which he lives and it moves in. Having a biodiverse attitude means worrying about protecting diversity and identity through integration and innovation.
